東京で単身赴任してたとき、連休とかにはいつも嫁が来て、家のことなどしてくれていた。
母にも、たまには東京来いよと言ってたんだけど、人混みが苦手だと決して来なかった。
そんな母が脳梗塞で突然死んじゃって、呆然としたまま遺品を整理していたら、東京のガイドブックが出てきた。
皇居とか、浅草とかベタなところに一杯赤鉛筆で線引いてあって、何度も読み返したらしくボロボロになってた。
親父に聞いたら、行きたかったんだけど嫁の方ががいいだろうって我慢してたんだそうだ。
自分は肉が嫌いなくせに、俺の好きそうな焼肉屋とかにも一杯線引いてあって、俺と一緒に回るのを夢見てたみたい。
俺は、お義理で誘っただけなんだけど、誘われた後は何回も何回も息子が来いと言ってくれたと喜んでいたらしい。
一緒に行きたかった場所には、俺の名前が書いてあって、それがたくさんたくさん書いてあって…
死に顔を見たときよりも、葬式の時よりもすっごく泣いた。
田舎に戻った今でも、生きてる間に呼ばなかったこと後悔している。
